The biointensive garden

La huerta biointensiva

At Les Seviques, the biointensive vegetable garden is an essential part of our regenerative farm

This technique allows us to produce efficiently, respecting the soil and promoting biodiversity around olive trees and other main crops.

What is a biointensive garden?

Biointensive gardening combines high planting density, intensive crop rotation, and intercropping to maximize production in small spaces. It also conserves moisture, improves soil structure, and promotes natural nutrient regeneration.

Advantages for our farm

  • Production of local and fresh food (herbs, vegetables and aromatic plants) for internal consumption and sale.

  • Greater moisture retention in the soil, reducing erosion.

  • Increased microbial life thanks to root density.

  • Ideal complement to the regenerative system: it provides diversity and resilience.

How do we integrate it?

At Les Sevices, we locate the vegetable plots near woody crops—such as olive and almond trees—using cover crops between rows, associating crops that benefit each other, and optimizing water use.
